Correctly installed, the XL7 will give precise viscosity measurement with high repeatability and accuracy and require minimum maintenance. To ensure best performance, please read this section carefully before using the instrument.
2.1 Unpacking, handling, storage
- The XL7 transducer and signal processor will be delivered in purpose-made packing. Please retain the packing for the safe storage or further transport. The instrument may be heavy, lift from the bottom of the box with a minimum of two people.
- When unpackaged, lift the instrument at the process fitting and support further along the shaft. Don’t hold the sensing tip of the instrument.
- Each viscometer carries a Certificate of Conformity and Calibration which gives important information for that particular instrument, such as material specification, process connection, pressure rating etc. The conformity information should be checked to verify that the instrument is compatible with the process installation environment. The Certificate should be retained in a secure place.
- Carefully remove the items from the packaging. Although the XL7 assembly is robust, care should be taken when handling the sensor out of its delivery carton. Never leave the transducer resting on the sensor element. A sharp blow to the resonating components could result in a shift in calibration or damage.
- Inspect the transducer and signal processor for any visible signs of damage. It is particularly important that the shaft of the transducer is unstressed, perfectly straight and concentric. Any distortion of the shaft will significantly affect performance. Immediately report any apparent shipping damage to Hydramotion or its representatives and the carrier.
- Storage conditions of the XL7 transducer and the signal processor should be compliant with the instrument specification, e.g. as regards ingress protection or sensor materials. Storage temperature should be within -20°C to 60°C. Relative humidity 5 to 95% non condensing.
- Note: There are no user-serviceable parts inside the XL7 transducer or the associated signal processor. Please contact Hydramotion if the system requires servicing or repair. Please do not attempt to repair the unit, as this will invalidate the warranty and may cause damage.
